Subject: Re: TO StinkyMnky (Yes it's THAT thread)

A long time since I wrote something to this list.. and this just happened
to catch my eye.. and I just couldn't resist.

First off all There are more than 20 **DIFFERENT** certificates how someone
can become a MS certified professional (it just happens that I've got one
of them.)

At 05:31 4-04-98 EST, StinkyMnky wrote:

For cursing on a ML is NEVER a good reason. The reason is to help each
other. ** NOT ** shouting and cursing and calling each other names.

>well it's actually quite simple...
it's the AOL.. ( -oops- never mind =-) )

>Because I have a fried system sitting in my room
>that proves my accusation...
It doesn't proof your accusation. It proofs that there went something
wrong. You can't proof that it's from the software. If it IS proof than I
could say that I've walked into a door because you were cursing on the ML.
and I've got the bump on my head to proof it. (sounds logical ? didn't
think so.)

How can you give out warnings when you have no clue what fried your
computer ?

>very simple...
Not as simple as you thought appearently

>I don't need somebody saying that what happened is impossible,
Nobody said that it is impossible that your computer is fried. We just say
that it's impossible the way YOU said it was fried.

other than to sign on as a different user...
the reason people should use their "Shut Down" button is because of the
same reason why you should use a "shutdown" on machines running linux. The
OS keeps several files opened. If you just reset your computer then those
files CAN get damaged and cause your machine to act strangly (however most
of the times the OS is capable to restore)

Did you ever think that if the software on your computer crashes that it
might not react to your keyboard anymore ? so the numlock and ctrl-alt-del
would indeed not work anymore ?

>the cpu's are fine,
I guess you tested these on another MB. with 100% load.

>the fans (6 of them) are running fine
I wonder how you checked these. Turning round doesn't mean they are
working fine.

> the ram is fine
Checked on a Ram-Board I guess.

>everything was fine...
everything was fine.. Then what was the problem ? =-)

>As for the bottlenecking,
Bottlenecking, Cool. This only means that your hardware is working on it's
maximum.

>and running at full capacity, put a proccessor into a binary
>loop and tell me if it doesn't melt before you're eyes...
It doesn't melt. It's just plain a 100% load. which every computer (CPU .
MB and everything else) should be able to handle.

>I have enough cooling in my vicinity to keep that down, but something, on
the MB didn't, so

try the cooling on yourself. maybe you can cool off somewhat more and get
your brains working again.

>CASE CLOSED, end of this thread, end of the whole thing,
If it only was this easy to close threads.

>if you don't believe it, if you choose to shrug and laugh at the initial
warning

** shrugs **
** laughs **
** yawns **

add something....
Except this time then.

done in the past 5 years is just a memory.
Backups ? oops.. you're an AOL-user, Sorry I forgot that for an instant..

>to write that letter... Could've been I've been awake the past 5 days
straight

Anyway if your HD gets corrupted all the time it's about time to put
another power supply in your computer. Or to buy another HD.
Which happens that I have a seperate harddisk for swapfiles (however I
don't need that one very often)
Don't go around yelling that software killed your MB and HD as the only
thing you are doing is making a fool out of yourself.
If a heavy load from software would kill someone's MB and/or HD wouldn't
people who like to render animations be in lot's of trouble then ? For as
their machines are easily occupied for several days at one go while in the
mean time they will still be doing things on the background like going on
the internet reading their mail and stuff !

If you don't know what killed your HD and MB then just be quiet don't go
around saying that compilers did it. IF it was the software that would kill
your MB and HD wouldn't you think someone would already have written a
virus that would do that ?

Please start thinking before you start typing anything.

PS. Sorry to all people on the ML but I just had to respond. My week wasn't
too good. And the ignorance of StinkyMnky just triggered something within
me. (but I feel a lot better now..) I think I'm gonna try to make some new
levels again =-P
