For 3dfx that is... other cards like any RIVA 128 have 2d+3d.

I'm using an STB Velocity 128 [AGP] which is great. It is fast, looks
pretty good, and considering I picked it up for about $120 it is a VERY good
deal. 960X720 OpenGL Quake2 at about 27 fps (on my system) is very nice.
Plus it is good at Direct3D as well. It is not the best at 2d, but up there
with the best. It is a very fast, versitile card that can later have a
Voodoo2 (3?) added on when you want your next upgrade. For now, I find it
fast enough, and don't see the Voodoo2's gains enough to warrent the extra
expendature, so I'll wait for the next round...

If you get a voodoo2, definately get an AGP 2d card if possible.

www.rivazone.com <-- news/info/discussion lists on RIVA 128 the list is
a good place to ask what people think about their cards, and for help on
installation/trouble shooting if you do get a RIVA card.
