Subject: Technique Question

I'm working on my first level. I am drawing it out on graph paper, and I have completed my first room in Qoole. What I'm wondering is this: is it better to do each room separately and then fit them together using hallways and CSG subtractions, or is it easier to make a room and immediately connect it to the rest of the level?
