Okay then, sounds fair enough. Will three judges be enough though?

Oh sure, I wouldn't mind ppl using my prefabs in their levels. I would mind
if they then went on to make a profit from their level. I would have no
problem if they in turn made their level available free (which means keeping
the level off of compilations and commercial packages too).

Sounds okay, but it might be better if ppl could say "you can use it
so long as you or no-one else makes money out of it". I don't think that
ppl should have to say outright "yeah, you can use my work and make money
off it if you want". Thats just wreaks of being unfair on the prefab
designer. The only issue I have is with other ppl making money off work
that is not their own. I have no problem with other ppl using the work,
'cos that's what it is about after all.

No, map author should not have rights over prefab author without consulting
the prefab author first. I've recently released some work (a quake 1 dm
level) that I would love for everyone to have, but I don't want anyone
(ANYONE, mind!) making money off of it.

> What do you think?

I'm also a little concerned about the quantity category as well. In your
reply to the other mail that said quanitity might not be a good idea,
you had a fair point of making sure ppl have a chance.

But.

Big question here?

What is the competition about?

Producing fancy prefabs that look awesome but slay the quake engine as far
as rendering in a deathmatch goes (perhaps more relevant to quake 1 than
the others) or to produce good quality and really useful prefabs.

I would personally love it if the competition was aimed at usefulness
more than anything else. Quantity would be good when combined with usefulness
but I would be sceptical of a single awesome looking prefab if I couldn't
find a decent regular use for it in my levels.

Similar to what someone else said. Opiate was it?

all the best with the competition, its a great idea.
