The problem comes in from the way entities are lit.  Try adding the light
checkbox and a value for those faces that are black.

Haven't seen a reason for Mist yet, though mixing some of these seems to be
cool.. solid water, lava brush with water inside.. ;)
Mist may be just an empty interior, so you can walk in a brush.  Might have
use for a walk through wall.
