Colored lighting only works with specific 3D accelerators (namely 3Dfx) =
in Quake II.

Regarding 3D accelerator popularity (namely 3Dfx again). When I first =
released GLQoole, it was downloaded maybe half as many times as =
WinQoole, if I recall correctly. I just checked on the downloads for =
v2.30 so far, and there are 30% more downloads of GLQoole then WinQoole. =
=20

So it seems, at least for the Quake map editing crowd, more poeple have =
3Dfx cards then don't. I believe this probably applies to the whole =
Quake community at this point.

There's one fact; there are more people getting 3D accelerators then =
there are getting rid of them. I think anyone making a Quake II map =
should be conscience of colored lights. They can add so much to the =
feeling of a room.

Is this true, colored lighting is only supported in the hardware =
accelarated version? If so that changes a lot of things. What's the use =
of making a colored enhanced level if software accelarted people can't =
see the pain and hard work you put into it. Also, I'm curious, how many =
people out there don't have the benefit of a 3D acclerator card to run =
Quake2 in?

Thanks for all the opinions so far on colored lighting. It is giving =
me a good ideal of what type of lighting to place in a level.
