I think that I figured it out once.  It all depends on how tall you think
that Quake player is.

If memory serves (I'm doing ALL of this from memory, and I can't check it
at the moment) the player is a shade under 60 units high, and I figured
him to be about 6'3" in height (He's a big, buff dude). That means that
there about 9 units to the foot.  I don't have the numbers in front of me,
so this is just s rough guess.  It might be closer to 8.
