 Rick, and others -

 Their is some confusion on the definition of locking to an axis.  Yes,
 you can tie someone to a plane.  Left/right, up/down - but  scaling
 this way expand the object in both directions along the plane.

 To truly be able to scale and lock to an axis, the arrow key needs more
 than 2 options.  It would need 4.

 That's the feature we are requesting from Matt and the rest of the team
 at Lithium.

 Hope this clarifies the orginal request, my subsquent explanation, and 
 and the lingering thread.
