Subject: Water slides in Q2

I'm trying to make water slides in Quake 2. Basically what I have is a
halfpipe with water flowing through it.. When I hop in the water, I have it
set so that the water is flowing and I move when I hop in it. However, one
problem I'm having is that, if I'm in the pipe and I bump into the sides, I
get tossed out of the water.

I checked on the q2 map Cooling Facility (cool1.bsp), which also contains
water slides similar to those I'm making. In this map, if you bump into
the sides, the water doesn't throw you out. So I started thinking that
maybe I need to set my current both horizontally (so I'll flow along with
the water) and down (so I have a hard time moving up out of the water).
But this doesn't seem to work.

So, can someone give me an idea on how I can keep from getting tossed out
of the water if I bump the edge of the pipe?

Thanks for any help anyone can offer..
