Subject: Re: How is the FireGL1000?

Well, if your dual is a P2 I would highly advise you NOT get a FireGL.
Check out http://www.best.com/~winfast/2300cpu.htm for the full story but
here is a short bit of the article:
---
More interestingly, we discovered that the 3-D performance of faster CPUs
such as the Pentium II is actually slowed when they have to delegate 3-D
rendering to average accelerators such as the Diamond 3D card. To verify
the 3-D "deceleration" effect, we isolated the scores from scene 1, which
is rendered completely in hardware, for both 3-D cards. Indeed, the Pentium
II was faster when rendering in the emulation mode than with the Diamond
card. Therefore, we recommend using only superior 3-D cards like Leadtek's
if you have a Pentium II-based system.

Based on that I got the Leadtek L2300 card and love it! Quake2 in OGL runs
sweet. And the leadtek card is on of the few that do not require you to
run fullscreen, it works great in a window too, 3DS Max2 run great too.

I have a dual p2, Quake is not multithreadred, it won't really benifet from
two processors as much as it could if it was a SMP version.
