Asymmetrical CTF levels generally suck. It takes a huge
amount of playtesting to make sure they are fair- and even
if they are, people will bitch that they aren't.

Heh- play in software mode. You won't get the colored
lighting that tends to screw you up so much. Or is there
a variable you can change to turn this off?

No, but well-designed levels can greatly reduce it.

This is also a map design problem. It's also an inherent
problem in the Quake-style 3D engines. There is simply too much
to draw to the screen with each rocket, hyperblaster round, etc.
The best solution is to design maps that tend to limit the
number of players in vis-range at any one time. This is why you
get much smoother play in levels with narrow, twisty halls. And
when in levels that don't have the Hyperblaster.
